Convert an original image file into a Base64 data URL for copying or downloading.

Choose imageDrag and drop an image here, or choose a file.PNG, JPEG or WebP. Maximum 16 MiB and 24 megapixels.

Your image stays on this device.

Choose an image to begin.

Canvas exports create a new image without the original file metadata. Base64 retains the original bytes.

## How to use this tool

Choose a supported image to create a data URL containing its original file bytes. This keeps any metadata in the original file. Large data URLs may be unsuitable for a webpage.

## Worked example

Base64 encodes every 3 bytes as 4 characters, rounded up to a complete group. A 3000-byte file produces 4000 Base64 characters, plus the data URL prefix.
